Arts Council (NI) SIAP funding


Support for the Individual Artist Programme, closing 27 March 2014


All applications in this funding round must be for projects that will be completed between 1 July 2014 and 30 June 2015. There are five separate funding streams included within the Arts Council of Northern Ireland's SIAP programme including:

General Arts Awards

Funded through the National Lottery, awards can be for specific projects, specialised research, personal artistic development and certain materials/ equipment. Artists of all disciplines and in all types of working practice can apply. The maximum award is £1,500, for one project only.

Self Arranged Residencies

These awards enable individual artists wishing to work outside Northern Ireland to do take up self-arranged residencies. The maximum award is £1,500.

Minority Ethnic Individual Artists Award

These awards have been developed as part of the Arts Council's Intercultural Arts Strategy and are designed to strengthen the current infrastructure in terms of increasing access and building capacity within the sector. Awards can be for specific projects, specialized research, personal artistic development and certain materials/ equipment that support professional arts practice and are specifically targeted at artists from Minority Ethnic communities.

The maximum award is £1,500, for one project only. The Arts Council anticipates making 3 awards in this current round.

Artists' International Development Fund (Individuals)

The Artists' International Development Fund is a £50,000 annual programme jointly funded by the British Council and Arts Council Northern Ireland. The programme will support early stage international development opportunities for individual, freelance and self-employed artists and organisations based in Northern Ireland.

Artists and organisations are able to apply for small grants from £1,000 to £5,000. You can only apply to the Artists' International Development Fund once in any financial year.

The closing date for applications for all of the above funding streams is 4pm on Thursday 27 March 2014.

Travel Awards (Rolling programme)

These awards enable individual artists and established music groups (up to 4 members) to travel from Northern Ireland to develop their skills and expertise. Applicants must provide evidence that they have been invited by a host organisation in the country to which they intend to travel.

Applicants may apply to one scheme only in any one funding round (with the exception of Travel Awards) Applications for Travel Awards are accepted on a rolling basis. You must apply at least four weeks before your anticipated date of departure.
