Comhdháil Náisiúnta na Gaeilge is delighted to announce that the finale of Comórtas Filíochta an Choirnéil Eoghain Uí Néill, which is now in its seventh year will take place in Dublin on Friday, 11th April 2014.

This Irish language and Gàidhlig competition is held in honour of An Coirnéil Eoghan Ó Néill who was one of Turas na bhFilí’s founding members in 1970. He developed a great connection between the two Celtic languages through poetry, literature and song.

The winner of this year’s Corn Uí Néill competition will be in the company of highly talented poets in the Irish language and Scottish Gaelic literary scene. Previous winners include: Philip Cummings; Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuígh; Máire Wren; Proinsias Mac a’Bhaird; Tadhg Ó Dúshláine and the Scottish poet Niall Gordon.

A prize fund of €500 as well as Corn Uí Néill trophy will be presented to the successful poet on the night.

Music and song by the talented singer and harpist Síle Denvir from the group Líadan

The writer, historian and broadcaster Alan Titley will be MC on the night with the event kicking off at 8pm.
