Are you the crime writing star of tomorrow?

City University London has teamed up with major London literary agency David Higham Associates to offer a bursary for our MA in Crime Writing (Novels) course.

TO ENTER please submit up to 10,000 words of a crime or thriller novel, plus a two-page synopsis.

THE WINNER will receive a bursary of £2,000 towards the MA in Creative Writing (Novels) at City University London.

All entries will have the chance to be read by agents at David Higham Associates.

David Higham Associates were established in 1935 and represent an outstanding range of writers across all genres. They are committed to finding and nurturing new talent. That's why they have teamed up with City University London: our Crime Thriller MA is the only MA in Britain to focus exclusively on writing for this genre.
How to enter:
Submissions must be 10,000 words or less, and submitted as a .doc or .docx document, double-spaced in 12pt Arial or Times New Roman
Please include a synopsis of two sheets of A4, which much include the ending of the book - no cliff-hangers please!
Please also include a short biography of yourself explaining why you would like to pursue the course at City University London (up to 500 words)

The prize is awarded at the discretion of the judges. In the event of no work of sufficient standard being entered, no prize will be awarded
The prize money must be used towards the course fees for the Crime Writing MA at City University London, subject to acceptance
The deadline for submissions is midnight on 28 April 2014
The shortlist will be announced at the end of May 2014 and the winner after that.
City University London's unique two-year MA in Crime Writing (Novels) offers students the chance to write a novel with the supervision of top crime authors, all currently publishing in the UK. Tutors include Claire McGowan, Laura Wilson, William Ryan, N J Cooper and Greg Mosse; visiting authors include Mark Billingham, S J Bolton, Sophie Hannah and more. By the end of the two-year course you will have written a complete novel - and at that point, the programme boasts strong links to agents and editors in the crime writing world. We want to see our students published.
