Individual Artist Fellowships of $5,000 are given annually to Minnesota writers, and Career Development Grants of up to $3,000 are given twice a year to Minnesota writers to pursue a specific arts opportunity. Poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers who are U.S. citizens, at least 18 years of age, and have lived in Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, or St. Louis counties in northeastern Minnesota for at least six months are eligible. Students enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program are ineligible for the Individual Artist Fellowships; students enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program related to the arts are ineligible for the Career Development Grants. For both awards, submit up to 15 pages of poetry or prose, a description of the work sample, an application, a project description of up to three pages, and a résumé of up to two pages by April 25.
