1ST ANNUAL 2014 BOOK PIPELINE CONTEST - DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 15TH, 2014
FINALISTS ANNOUNCED OCTOBER 15TH
The Book Pipeline Competition, presented by Script Pipeline, is searching for playwrights and authors with material well-suited for film or television adaptation. The winning writer will have meetings with Energy Entertainment (Extant), Benderspink (We’re the Millers, A History of Violence), Lakeshore Entertainment (Million Dollar Baby), andParadigm to discuss further development.
After 12 seasons running the successful Script Pipeline Screenwriting Competition, the 1st Annual Book Pipeline Contest aims to continue discovering new talent and delivering unique, compelling stories to the industry--with the specific intent of getting projects on the fast-track to production.
ENTRY FEE: $50 PER SUBMISSION
Acceptable entries include:
Novels (fiction or non-fiction)
Book Proposals / Pitches
*Books and graphic novels may be published or unpublished; if published, the film AND television rights must be available
Supplemental materials (illustrations, character bios, etc.) may be included as well.
All entries are judged on the basis of concept originality, writing ability, and the project’s viability of adaptation into a film or television property. Judges will consist of Script Pipeline executives and the supporting management/production companies.
WINNERS AND FINALISTS
Entrance to the Book Pipeline event in Santa Monica, CA in November 2014, where one winner is announced (finalists chosen will range from 2-8) The event will include representatives from Energy Entertainment, Benderspink, and Paradigm.
$1,000 cash to winning entry
Airfare to attend the Book Pipeline event (or $500 airfare reimbursement for international finalists)
Additional development assistance and consultation from Script Pipeline executives
COMPANIES REVIEWING FINALISTS
Energy Entertainment – management/production company launched by Brooklyn Weaver in 2001. Brooklyn is currently serving as executive producer with Steven Spielberg on the CBS sci-fi/drama Extant, starring Academy Award-Winner Halle Berry. In 2013, Weaver produced the thriller Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and Ridley Scott. He has a number of other studio-level projects in development and pre-production.
Benderspink – management/production company founded by Chris Bender and JC Spink. Recent films include We’re the Millers and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. Benderspink produced the Oscar-Nominated A History of Violence in 2005 and has numerous high-profile projects in development across all genres.
Paradigm – founded in 1992, Paradigm has grown to become a leading entertainment talent agency with an upper-echelon roster of actors, directors, writers, and producers. The company represents all types of writers—from screenwriters to playwrights.
