Creative Writing Competition - 2014


Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:


Be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old at the time you apply
Be enrolled in, or have graduated from, a degree program
Live within 150 miles of the Union League Club of Chicago


While applicants may reapply to Luminarts programs every year, they are only eligible to receive the award once. However, once designated a Luminarts Fellow you are eligible to apply for a project grant through the Foundation.

The Creative Writing Program awards five (5) $5,000 grant awards (between prose and poetry)..

In addition to those named Luminarts Fellows, a select group of applicants will be published in the Luminarts Review.Submission Guidelines
Applicants will submit one (1) piece of writing.

Submissions should be no more than two (2) pages, single spaced, with a minimum of 12 pt. font. The submitted piece may be a part or excerpt of a larger written piece (such as an excerpt from a novel or short story). PLEASE NOTE: If you are submitting an excerpt of a larger written work you must also attach a copy of the full written work. Space will be provided on the application to attach the main submission as well as the full version if choosing to submit an excerpt.

Applicants must submit their work in Microsoft Word format, making sure to remove their name and any personal contact information from the actual written work.
