MCofS Mountain Writing Competition and Photographic Competition - Deadline 31st August 2014
Entries are now being accepted for the MCofS Mountain Writing Competition for 2014.
The deadline is 31st August 2014.
EMFF has kindly donated weekend passes (worth £100) to the Festival for the winners in each literary category.
MCofS Mountain Writing Competition Categories 2014:
Prose Category
1st prize £150 plus EMFF ticket; 2nd prize £100; 3rd prize £50
Poetry category
1st prize £100 plus EMFF ticket; 2nd prize £50; 3rd Prize £25

EMFF Photographic Competition Categories 2014:
The EMFF categories for 2014will be available from the website soon.
Winners will receive a £25 cash prize, one year’s free MCofS individual membership, and a Scottish Harvey Mountain Map of their choice.

Entries should be sent either as digital jpeg format (5Mb max) or prints (10x8) as follows:

Conditions of Entry for the MCofS Mountain Writing Competition:
Closing Date for entries is 31st August 2014
Entries in both categories must be related to mountains and/or mountaineering
Prose entries should be a maximum of 2,000 words long. Poetry entries can be as long or as short as you like
All entries should be supplied by email in Word Document format, or by post, typewritten or printed on one side of the paper only
Enclose an SAE if you wish the article to be returned
The MCofS & EMFF reserve the right to publish the prize-winning entries. Past winners have been published either in the MCofS magazine, Annual Report or in magazines or journals
The competition is open to anyone resident in the UK, either members of the MCofS or not. Members should quote their club name or individual membership number
Competition Rules for EMFF Photography entries:
Closing date for entries is 9th September 2014
No more than 2 entries per person, per category
By entering the competition, you agree to have your photos displayed as part of the EMFF exhibition 2015
Winners are decided by the EMFF judging panel. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
The winning photo in each category will receive £25 and have the image displayed as part of the EMFF exhibition
Neither Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival nor the exhibition venue can be held responsible for loss or damage to photos before, during or after the exhibition
We regret that we cannot return photographs but they can be collected at the festival at morning or afternoon sessions only. Digital entries preferred
