New Voices Writing Competition - Deadline: July 1, 2014 (midnight GMT)

The Missing Slate is proud to announce its first paid writing competition. Following on from the success of our Hallowe’en Writing Contest, they felt a wider competition targeting new voices, irrespective of geography was imminent. They are also charging a small, non-refundable $10 submissions fee and is the first time they are charging for anything. An important aspect of the prize is the greater the number of submissions, the higher the cash prize (with a guaranteed $150 prize). Please note: if you are in a region where PayPal is not supported, please see the box below. They don’t want something like a payment gateway preventing them from reading and discovering your work.

PayPal not working? No worries.
If you are in Pakistan and interested in submitting pieces, please submit your pieces directly to newvoices@themissingslate.com with a screenshot or picture of your deposit in our bank account. Details are provided below:

You can submit from anywhere in the world – anything that expands our world view is welcomed.

Prize:

$150 guaranteed cash prize; the higher the number of entries, the higher the cash prize.
The winner will be published in our print anthology (mailed as a complimentary issue).

All entries will be considered for Story of the Week.

Please be sure to include your contact information (email address, mailing address, and contact number).
Please ensure your piece is original i.e. not previously published (or a winner, finalist or honorable mention for another competition). This will be carefully checked. Submissions fees are not refundable, so please ensure that this prerequisite is met.
