Prada writing competition - Deadline 11th June 2014

Huge Italian fashion house Prada, has launched a short stories competition, in collaboration with publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli Editore. Prada has supported cultural activities for a long time, including establishing the Prada Foundation, so it’s good to see them showing writers some love.

TIPS ON HOW TO BECOME AN AUTHOR

Prada are looking for a pool of new talent to include in a book of short stories. What’s the brief? It’s quite obscure, which gives the writer plenty of creative license. It uses the metaphor of prescription glasses, so interpret it how you will:

“What are the realities that our eyes give back to us? And how are these realities filtered through lenses?” Cryptic, huh?

LAND YOUR DREAM JOB NOW

Have you got the ideas to fulfill the brief? All you need to do now is create a story between 4,000 to 8,000 words long and upload it to the Prada Journal. Oh, and be over 18 years of age. Although it’s an international competition, writers are encouraged to write their stories in their native language.
