2014 WARP Place Writing Contest - Deadline July 4th 2014 11:59 PST
Early Submission Incentive
Reader’s Choice Voting
Eligibility. To be eligible for prizes and royalties, each entrant must be a registered WARP Place member with a PayPal account.
Submission. Submissions should comprise fewer than 6,000 words (if you’ve written a novel or other lengthy piece, consider entering an excerpt*). Submit as many entries as you like, but all must be received by July 4th, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. PST. Review the Submission Form and submit your entry. (We’re not censors but will delete without apology anything we deem to be hate speech or completely offensive and without merit.)
Early Submission Incentive. To avoid being swamped near the cutoff date, we will compile, publish, and sell in our Bookstore the first 100 entries received in each category. This will be two series of 5 books in each category, with 20 entries per book. Compilation books will be for sale at $10.00 each. This assures early submitters that they will not only be published but will also participate in the compilation-authors’ share of 50% royalty. (Buy these to get a terrific preview of your competition.) Note: These first five (5) compilations in each category will be published and available for sale as they come in. These will precede the finalist compilation on which readers will vote for the prize-winning entry in the award category. Some entries, of course, will qualify for both.
Finalist Compilation. This year’s panel of published writers will select 20 finalists in the Award Category based on compelling narrative, absolute delight, unfailing brilliance, or utter astonishment. We will compile the selected entries and publish them for sale at $10.00 in our bookstore on July15, 2014.In the Open Category, our panel will select the 20 best for the compilation book, also for sale in our bookstore for $10, with the authors sharing equally the 50% royalty.
Reader’s Choice Voting. Our readers, with one vote per email address, will ultimately decide the winner. To vote, readers must buy the finalist-compilation ebook, then vote via the Vote button for their favorite. Vote for yourself and ask your family members, Facebook friends, Twitter followers, and even perfect strangers to register at WARP Place, buy the finalist compilation, and vote for you as well.
We strongly believe this compilation will provide an enlightening, entertaining reader experience as well as a chance to vote. The Reader’s choice voting period will begin August 1, 2014 at 12:01 a.m. PST and continue through 11:59 pm PST on December 15, 2014.
Royalties. We’re excited to announce that each 2014 Writing Contest finalist (including the eventual winner) will share equally in the royalties of 50% of sales of their ebook compilation. Royalties will be dispersed through PayPal. WARP Place pledges to put its 100% toward earth care via Jaguar Ambassadors Gang (JAG) or Foundation WARP.
