Soutar Writing Prize - Last Few Days deadline is Monday 30 June 2014.



The first prize in the competition held in memory of Perth poet William Soutar is a week-long writing course at one of the prestigious Arvon writers' centres, worth around £700. The runner-up will receive a £100 book token and there is a special local award of a £50 book token for the best short story by a resident of Perth and Kinross. Entries this year will be judged by award winning author Zoe Strachan.

Entry is free but limited to two short stories, which must each be less than 2000 words. Entries are welcomed from writers all across the globe and the deadline is Monday 30 June 2014.

Anyone interested in entering should read the full Competition rules for the 2014 William Soutar Writing Prize [51kb](Opens in a new window) before submitting their story and ensure that all entries are accompanied by a completed Entry form for the 2014 William Soutar Writing Prize [50kb].

The shortlisted entries will be announced on our website by 20 August 2014, and the winner will be announced on Saturday 30th August 2014, at the annual Writers' Day where a number of workshops will take place in AK Bell Library in Perth.
