Venture Award - Deadline midnight on 17 October 2014.


Entry Conditions

Entry for the award is open to anyone over the age of 16anywhere in the world.*
Entries can consist of up to 15 A4 pages of poetry of any length and must be attached as Rich Text Format (.rtf) files. This also means that the poems must be in simple format with no experimental font styles or sizes – the work’s strength should be evident without embellishment.
There is no limit on the number of entries a single entrant can make. All entries will be considered anonymously by the judging panel.

Your entries should have a title, but your name should not appear anywhere on the .rtf file submitted. Neither should details of any previous publication of the poems that constitute the entry. Failure to adhere to this guideline will result in automatic disqualification as it creates a lot of admin work for our team.

The poems in your entry may have been published previously, but not as part of or within as a published collection. Copyright remains with the authors but flipped eye publishing reserves the right to first publication of the pamphlet.

Shortlisted poets agree that poems from their submissions may be used as part of publicity material after the announcement of the shortlist although the copyright for the poems remains with the authors.
Poets on the shortlist may be required to speak to the media or have photographs or videos featuring them displayed on the Venture Award’s website or social media outlets.

The winner and runner up of the Venture Award will both have pamphlets published by flipped eye publishing. The prize for the award winner is £1000 plus publication and for the runner up £500 plus publication. Up to five commended poets will receive £50 each.
The judging panel are unable to offer feedback to entrants on their submissions.

The final judge’s decision will be final. If in the judge’s estimation no collection deserves to win, a shortlist of up to 5 (five) poets will be announced and they will receive a share of the prize pot, but no publications will be released. We reserve the right to change the panel of judges without notice.
Submission of your entry for the award will be deemed to be acceptance of the conditions listed.
