Author James Patterson is donating €310,000

Writing News

Well know author James Patterson is donating €310,000 to help independent bookshops in Ireland and Britain. His generous donation is an effort to encourage children to read more.

The best-selling thriller writer, who has sold more than 280 million books, is offering financial incentives to independent shops who hold a dedicated children’s book section. When people are increasingly turning to digital formats like Kindle, Nook and many others he is hoping to encourage children to read more..

Retailers who hold a dedicated children’s book section can apply for grants of between €310 and €6,200 if they can come up with new and innovative ideas to encourage youngsters to read.
