Now Accepting entry's for 2014
The JKGLA is extending the writing contest deadline until August 15, 2014. This will allow authors in regions devastated by excessive flooding, forest fires etc. to have their stories mailed.
This award was created to honor John Kenneth Galbraith a Dunwich farmboy who went on to become an internationally acclaimed economist, ambassador and author.
The friends also wanted to bring attention to our community, encourage and reward one Canadian author.
Friends of Dutton-Dunwich" are accepting short stories, Canadian Fiction, in English, neatly typed, in an easy to read font 12pt, double spaced, on white regular 8 x 11 paper, with title and number on upper of each page ( any handwritten entries will immediately be discarded.)

~ Stories must be 3,000 to 3,500 words, accurate word count
~ Cover page with title, accurate word count, author's home address and phone # Submissions will not be returned so Please! Keep a copy!
~ All stories must be the original work of the entering author and previously unpublished or not currently entered in other simultaneous writing contests. After October 1, 2013 anyone who has not been contacted is free to submit their story elsewhere as honorable mentions and the winner will be notified by Oct 1, 2013
~ Judges' decision is final. Please note, there will be no correspondence, e-mail or regular mail, or phone calls or personal contact between judges and the entrants regarding any submissions.
~ No e-mail submissions.
~ $10 entry fee must accompany each entry ( money order or cheque made payable to "Friends of Dutton-Dunwich") NSF Cheques are grounds for immediate disqualification. Mail cheque or money order along with entry form and story to Friends of Dutton-Dunwich PO Box 58, Dutton, Ontario N0L 1J0
~ Deadline for all submissions is August 5, 2013. (No late postmarks accepted)

Honorable mentions and the winner will be invited along with one guest each to the Gala Award Presentation Ceremony where selected passages will be read. The evening will be a night of celebrating the writings of John Kenneth Galbraith. This event will be a semi-formal or Highland dress occasion. Following an evening of entertainment and refreshment, the winner will be announced and the presentation of a large cash prize of $2,000 and a cast pewter medallion - The John Kenneth Galbraith Literary Award - will take place. On the reverse side of the medallion will be inscribed the winner's name and the year. This event will be held 8 p.m. October 15, 2012, the closest Saturday to Galbraith's birth date of October the 15, 1908, in the West Elgin Performing Arts Theatre 199 Currie Road, Dutton.
