Judging Criteria
Primary consideration will be given to the entry’s originality and its contribution to knowledge and insights from a Jungian perspective regarding the theme. Entries will be judged on:
• Substance and originality
• Idea development (clarity, creativity, Jungian perspective)
• Writing style, composition and organization
Winning Entries
• Monetary prizes are: $1000 first prize, $500 second prize, $250 third prize
• Winning will have an opportunity to read their essays at the Jung in the Heartland
Conference: The Altar of the Earth in September 2015. Winning essays will be included in a published compilation.
• Winners will be announced by December 2014. All contestants will be notified by email of the judges’ decision.
Rules
• Entries will be accepted through October 1, 2014. No late entries will be accepted.
• Maximum length is 4,000 words.
• For entries that include images, original artwork is encouraged. If the images are not the work of the author, copyright permissions must be obtained prior to submission and included with the manuscript.
• All submissions must be original and no previously published works, or works accepted for publication elsewhere, are eligible. Work may be under consideration elsewhere but must be withdrawn from the competition if accepted elsewhere for publication.
• The C.G. Jung Society of St. Louis reserves the right of first publication both online and in print.
• Current board members of the C.G. Jung Society of St. Louis are not eligible to enter.

Manuscript Preparation & Submission
• Submissions must be in Microsoft Word format.
• Include a cover sheet with your name, address, telephone number and email address.
All information identifying the author should appear only on the cover sheet and not on subsequent pages. This allows us to separate your name from the submission for anonymity during judging.
• Include copyright permissions if required (see rules above)
