Ben's Heroes Trust Super Amazing 2014 Short Story Competition

Ben's Heroes Short Story Competition

The aim of this competition (apart from getting 7-11 year olds writing!) is to raise awareness of the social impact of a diagnosis of cancer in children. As a charity it's important to us to try and minimise the isolation and lack of contact that children have with friends and family whilst in hospital undergoing treatment. We aim to do this by donating iPad mini libraries to NHS children's cancer wards which not only allows them to stay connected via Skype, Facebook etc. but also gives them something to stave off boredom and distract them during long or painful procedures, or to use to keep up with school work.

So! The challenge for the children is to write a story in under 500 words around the theme of friendship. There's a 7-9 year old and a 10-11 year old section, with a separate category for girls and boys in each age group. Winners will receive a £35 book token and have their story printed in our next newsletter!
