CHILDREN’S SHORT STORY COMPETITION


HOW TO ENTER


The cost for the competition is £3 per entry. School entry costs – up to ten stories £20, more than ten stories £25.

Number of words – up to 500 words and all stories must be your own work, which must not have been published.

The deadline is 15th June 2015.

Please mark the first page with your name, number of words and the story title and then put your address, telephone number, email and the story title into a covering letter or email.

If you want to post your story, send it with a covering letter to CM Short Story Competition, c/o April Cottage, Silver Street, Curry Mallet, Taunton, Somerset TA3 6SR.

If you want to email your story, send it as an attachment to currymallet@hotmail.co.uk together with your personal details, or use the contact form below (You need JavaScript enabled to view it), including your personal details in the ‘Your Message’ box.

There are four ways to pay, here on the website at the bottom of this page with your debit or credit card or Paypal account, electronically into our bank account, sort code 77 50 01 account number 57083168, or by cheque or postal order to the above address made payable to Curry Mallet Community Fund. If paying electronically, please put your name and the first line of your address in the reference box, thank you.

A specially selected panel will shortlist the stories and the final 10 from each age category will be judged by a well known literary figure. The winners will be notified at the beginning of September 2015 and the winning stories will be published on this website.

For those new to short story telling – don’t leave entering the competition too close to the deadline and don’t send in your first attempt. Put the story away for a little while after completion and when you review it, improvements will normally be seen immediately. Any profits will be given to good causes.
