St Martin’s Short Story Competition  



 
  We are running a short story writing competition, open to all. Adults' and Children's entries will be judged and awarded separately..

Submit your story of no more than 1,700 words - with a subject or setting of a church or a Saint Martin related theme.

Entries to be submitted by 30th June 2015.
Competition Details

Your short story may be written in any style (no adult or explicit content please) with the subject or setting of a church or a Saint Martin related theme. You can find out ore about Saint martin here. http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_of_Tours.

Stories should not have been previously published, or posted on a website or blog. Stories posted on members-only writing groups for workshop purposes as part of the creative process are not deemed to have been previously published. Stories should also not be under consideration for publication or accepted for publication elsewhere.

Length: Maximum 1,700 words per story.


Entry Fees: £5.00 per story. (You may enter as many stories as you wish – with the applicable fees.)

Children may enter for a fee of £2.00. (Children will be classed as those under the age of 14)

Prizes:

Adults: £100 for the winning entry. Winning entry and three shortlisted entries will be published on this website.

Children: £25 book token for the winning entry. Winning entry and two shortlisted entries will be published on this website.



Prizes will be announced 30th August 2015.



First Publication: The winning story will be published at www.Duntonbucks.org for 3 calendar months following date of announcement of the winner. All rights will then revert to the author.



Judges.

Rohan Candappa

Rohan Candappa is an English writer. He grew up in London as a second generation immigrant. His father was originally from Ceylon and his mother from Burma.

After 15 years in advertising, Rohan wrote The Little Book of Stress, which sold over 140,000 copies. He has since written a number of other funny books, including The Curious Incident of the WMD in Iraq and Rules Britannia, and has also written two short films for the BBC. He lives in North London with his wife and two children

And, by his own admission, is a thoroughly nice bloke.

Rohan will be judging all adult entries.

Alice Primmer

Alice is a Junior Desk Editor for children’s book publisher Walker Books, and a Quicklinks researcher for children’s book publisher Usborne.

She is a resident of Dunton and just starting out on her career in publishing.

Alice will be judging the children's entries.
