The Apocalypse Chronicles Short Story Competition

A Great War will ignite the world. Global famine, severe food shortages will soon follow. The Earth will convulse under a massive asteroid or nuclear missile strike.One-third of all trees on Earth will burn. One-third of the light from the sun, the moon, the stars will be blocked by smoke and ash covering the Earth. Every living creature remaining in the sea will die. All rivers and springs will turn to blood. There will be a great plague of snow and hail coming upon the Earth.

The end of the world is near. Again! For centuries, doomsdayers and self-styled prophets have claimed to know about the end of the world, emphasizing that their version of the apocalypse will come true.
Of course, none of the end of the days predictions so far have come true – humankind and the earth is still here, and thriving. But what when it does come?
We want your stories. Almond Press is accepting submissions for our upcoming anthology – Apocalypse Chronicles. Tell us your vision of The End – what will it bring?

The Apocalypse Chronicles is a continuation of the dark theme that flows through our anthologies –
Fall, After the Fall, and Broken Worlds. From one year to the next, the stories get darker as the calibre of submissions only continues to exceed our expectations. If you’d like to see your story published among those of other authors of dark fiction, do not hesitate to send in your submission – we are literally dying to read it. The key theme of the short story competition is Apocalypse. We value diversity, so stories written from a dystopian, dark fiction, weird fiction or horror perspective are all welcome.
