In order to promote a wide audience for literature and encourage fine writing, the Drapers Guild announces its Perpetual Short Story Contest.
The contest will be judged by Samuel Reifler, the eminent author of October Snow, whose work has been translated into five languages and whose fiction has appeared in numerous periodicals including Esquire, Harper's Bazaarand New Directions. The story judged the best, out of every fifteen we receive, will win $100, and will be published on the Drapers Guild website.

The Drapers Guild Short Story Prize will be awarded to the best story, in Mr. Reifler's judgment, of the first fifteen we receive. Any stories received after the first fifteen will be entered in the next round of fifteen.
Rules: Stories may be any length. However, the longer the story is, the more engaging it must be for Mr. Reifler to read it from beginning to end.
The contest is sponsored in part by the United Front for the Revival of Neo-Classicism, therefore stories will be judged somewhat more on form than on content -- unless the content makes Mr. Reifler laugh or cry, in which case form will take a back seat.
