Prime Number Magazine (a Press 53 publication) announces the 2016 Prime Number Magazine Awards for Poetry & Short Fiction! Before entering, please read the following guidelines carefully.
Submission period: Now until April 15, 2016 online only using Submittable, your online submissions manager. Multiple submissions are accepted; each entry requires a separate reading fee.
Winners Announced: No later than July 1, 2016
Reading Fee: $15 per entry
Poetry judge: Kelly Cherry, former Virginia Poet Laureate and author of The Life and Death of Poetry: Poems (LSU Press)
Short Fiction judge: Taylor Brown, author of Fallen Land (St. Martin's Press) and In the Season of Blood & Gold (Press 53)

First Prize in each category: $1,000 plus publication in Prime Number Magazine.
A top 10 finalist list in each category will appear here with the author name, location, and title of work.
Note: All prizes will be awarded upon publication in Prime Number Magazine.Winning entries must remain unpublished until they appear online in Prime Number Magazine, otherwise the prize and publication will be forfeited.
All work will be read blind, so author's name should not appear on the page(s) uploaded. Judges are asked to disqualify any entry that the judge recognizes, so please use your best judgment when submitting. If you know the judge in your category and believe he or she may recognize your work, you may want to reconsider submitting. Judges' complete bios can be found below.
Contest is open to writers anywhere in the world who write in English. Press 53 and Prime Number Magazine editors and family members are not eligible. Authors who have published a book-length collection with Press 53 are not eligible. Writers whose work appears in anthologies published by Press 53 are eligible. Judges agree to disqualify any work that, for whatever reason, they may recognize, so use your best judgment when submitting.
Prime Number Magazine reserves the right to extend deadlines or substitute judges if deemed necessary. Multiple entries are accepted with a reading fee for each entry. Simultaneous submissions are accepted but please remove work immediately if accepted elsewhere. Only unpublished works are eligible (this includes self-published works). Reading fees are non-refundable. Entries with author's name appearing anywhere on the manuscript will not be considered. No refunds will be made. Work withdrawn from the contest will not receive a refund. All submissions must be original works.
