What we want: We want stories that reach out and grab us and won’t let us stop reading until we get to the very last sentence. Multiple submissions are welcome but we do not want simultaneous submission.
Entry fee: $10.00 CAD payable through paypal to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include payment number in the body of the email so we can mark down that you are entered.
Length: 1500 to 3000 words. This is absolute. If you send a story with 1499 or 3001 words, your story will be disqualified. That number does not include the title.

Prizes: 1st 2nd and 3rd prize will all include payment for their stories - $250.00, $200.00, and $150.00 repectively - and publication in an anthology of all the winners. They will also receive a free hard copy of the anthology. 4th place to 10th will receive publication and a hard copy of the anthology. Places 11 to 25 will get published in the anthology and receive free ebook editions. The top 5 will also receive two years free subscription to the Deadly Quill Ezine. All monetary prizes are in CAD.
Rights: Deadlyquill.com and Lorne McMillan gets one time non-exclusive publication rights to all contest entrants, even non-winning entries, for later publication in the Deadly Quill ezine.
How to submit: Stories must be in standard manuscript professional submission style. No unusual fonts. Anything hard to read won’t be read, the same going for if it isn’t formatted professionally. Add all your information, as well as a short bio in the body of the email. Don’t forget to include the paypal transaction number. Make sure stories are sent as attachment in .docx format. If it doesn't open easily, it will be disqualified. If for some reason you are not able to send in this format, please state reason in body of email so that can be given consideration.
