Entries are open for The Moth’s €10,000 Poetry Prize

ENTRIES ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR ONE OF THE WORLD’S RICHEST POETRY PRIZES. THE WINNER OF THE 2019 MOTH POETRY PRIZE WILL RECEIVE €10,000 (APPROXIMATELY US$11,000), WITH THREE RUNNERS-UP TO RECEIVE €1,000 EACH.

The Moth Poetry Prize, formerly known as the Ballymaloe International Poetry Prize, is for a single, original poem that has not been published in any form (including being self-published or published online). The prize is open to all poets, both established and emerging, and there are no restrictions on nationality or citizenship. An entry fee of €15 is payable and multiple entries are accepted.

The poems will be judged by Claudia Rankine, winner of both the PEN Open Book Award and the PEN Literary Award for her poetry collection Citizen: An American Lyric.

The judging takes place anonymously; Rankine will only learn the identities of the shortlisted poets after the selection of the winning poems. Poems may be any length, any style or on any subject, and there is no line limit.

Entries for The Moth Poetry Prize 2019 close on Tuesday 31 December. The winning poems will be published in Spring 2019 edition of The Moth. Visit The Moth website for full entry details.

The Moth is an international quarterly arts and literature magazine based in Ireland. Published quarterly, it features poetry, short fiction and pictures. Each issue also features two interviews with writers or artists. The Moth welcomes unsolicited submissions from writers worldwide – please check the submission guidelines for further details.
