Vivid Dreams Poetry Competition 2021
Parkinson’s Art are pleased to announce their latest charity poetry competition - Poetry in performance. This will complement our wonderful international art exhibition in August and support Parkinson’s research.
We are looking for innovative, original poetry which is brought alive through being heard. We want to hear the nuances and the musicality of the work; poetry is meant to be heard.
Using the same theme as the exhibition, “Vivid Dreams”, entries need to include the poem in written form alongside a recording of the poet reading the poem (or their appointed reader in case of speech problems). The poem should be no longer than 30 lines and should relate to the theme in some way but can be a loose interpretation and does not require that same title.
The top three winners in each category will have their poem and film feature in the exhibition. The winner in each category will also win a cash prize equal to 50% of the ticket sales. The remaining 50% will go towards finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
Entry categories
Parkinson’s Art Academy members: £4 per poem or 3 poems £10
Open entry: £8 per poem or 3 poems £20
Please note
you may enter in only one category
To qualify for member entry, entrants must be enrolled in the Parkinson’s Art Academy before June 1st 2021
multiple entries using a different name are not allowed. Any breach of this rule will result in all submissions being disqualified
each entry must contain a written version of the poem (Ariel 11) and a film recording – please make sure both the written copy and film contain the poet’s name and entry number
winning entries may be used in future publications by Parkinson’s Art but copywrite is retained by the poet
the judges’ decision is final and not open to challenge
